The 16th Beijing International Book Fair (BIBF), organized by the China National Publications Import and Export Corporation (CNPIEC), was held at the Beijing International Exhibition Center from September 3 to 7, 2009. BIBF is one of the four most important book fairs in the world which attracts both publishing professionals and book enthusiasts. This year more than 1700 exhibitors participated in BIBF, among them more than 1000 international ones. Since the fair was held before the China’s 60th anniversary National Day, many domestic publishers take this opportunity to exhibit featured Chinese publications as a birthday gift for the motherland.
